In Mass Effect 3 if Legion survives the second game you find him in a Geth ship boosting Reaper codes against his will, but even if he doesn't survive they make a remake of him as a form of VI. But why do they have to use him, wouldn't any Geth work?

Legion is a unique geth mobile platform, designed to operate outside the Perseus Veil and interact with organics. To that purpose, it houses 1, geth programs, as opposed to the roughly one hundred found in other platforms My guess is that Legion's unique hardware are more suited for this task than a regular geth husk.

The most immediate similarity would be that this Geth also appears to have welded some of Shepard's old N7 armor over a 'hole' in his body. Legion did this also, and it seems to be in exactly the same position. The most shocking difference between the two would appear to only become clear if you decide to keep Tali alive.

I haven't seen what Legion does in this position, but I doubt very much that he'd do the same. I can't figure out whether the VI is based around the concept of Legion not being found in ME2, and then somehow being used as the basis for the VI which would theoretically behave different since it lacks prior history with Shepard along with it's own name, and not only that but it's a VI and not actually a Geth.

If that's the case, what happens if you found and activated Legion in ME2, only to have him die in the Suicide Mission - since that would effectively take Geth's deactivated body out of the equation, and he would definitely be dead, he could neither appear in ME3 as himself nor go on to have a VI made in his image.

If your companion is Shala'Raan, she'll shoot herself in the head. After their death, the Quarians will continue to attack the Geth fleet and destroy them. These are two of the hardest-earned options in the game, and have Shepard make a plea to the Quarians to call a ceasefire so that both them and the Geth can live.

There are TWO checks for this. The first check is whether you can even pick these options in the first place. The requirements are:. If you do not meet all four of these requirements, you CANNOT pick either of the Persuasion options, and you will have to choose between either the Quarians or the Geth using the options on the right side of the Dialogue Wheel.

That's not the end of it, however. While you can pick these options to attempt your plea with the Quarians to cease fire, there's a second check that determines whether you'll be successful with it or not. Past actions will give Shepard enough clout for their words to actually convince the Quarians to stand down.

Each of the actions listed below have a points value to them. You'll need to attain five points to pass the check. The actions are:. If you have less than 5 Points, your plea will be unsuccessful, and the results will be as detailed in the Allow the Upload section of this page.
